They are there to halt your vehicle, avoiding collisions and\naccidents, allowing your vehicle to come to a stop, safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keeping up with\nyour brake pads condition is crucial when it comes to the safety of yourself,\nothers in your vehicle and those on the road with you.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brake pads usually\nneed to be replaced between 25,000-40,000 miles, this will ensure that you know\nyour brakes are always in good working order and condition. However, this can often\nbe shorter or longer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take into\nconsideration your everyday driving, as this will affect your brakes. If you mainly\ndrive within a city, you\u2019re more likely to use your brakes than if you were\ndriving in the country. Therefore, your brake pads may need changing sooner\nthan others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are signs\nthat you should change your brakes before this, but firstly, to understand these\nsigns and to help you diagnose the issue, it\u2019s good to understand your brake\npads and their placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where on your car are the brake pads?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brake pads are\nusually paired with other components of the brake. Whether that be further damage to your vehicle or even an\naccident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few easy signs to\nidentify whether your car brakes are faulty:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Are your brakes squeaky? A squeaky\nbrake is usually the first sign of wear and tear and can show that your brakes\nare coming towards the end of their life. If this isn\u2019t replaced, you\u2019ll only\nwear them down further, leading them to grind and damage the rotary which will lead\nto greater costs in the long run. If your squeaking has shifted to a grinding\nnoise, this will need to be replaced as soon as possible!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you find that your vehicle seems\nto be taking longer to stop than usual, this could be a sign that your brake\npads are wearing down, or even that your brake fluid is low.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For modern cars, an indicator light\nfor this issue is built into dashboards in order to inform you. This can,\nhowever, be a sign to let you know that the parking brake is engaged. If your\nparking brake isn\u2019t engaged, then you\u2019ll need to visit a brake engineer as soon\nas possible.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to fit brake pads<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brake pads are an\nessential and crucial component on your vehicle, which is why it\u2019s recommended\nto have your brake pads fitted by a professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To replace your\nbrake pads, your vehicle&#8217;s wheels will have to be removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dissecting the\nbrake disk will allow you to view the brake pads. By removing the guide bolt\npin and unbolting the callipers, you will be able to unmount the old brake\npads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To replace these,\nyou should apply a small amount of grease to the pads, avoiding the friction\nlinings.
